anaesthetic solution in the sacral canal bathing the peridural space. Development of sacral anesthesia.?In 1901, Sicard and Cathelin introduced and developed the technique of extradural injection by introduction of cocaine solution into the sacral canal. It was several years afterwards that the practical application of this method in surgery and obstetrics was found. By 1920, 4,200 cases were traced by Zwefel (1910) from literature. In 1942, the single-injection technique was replaced by the continuous form, for prolonging the anaesthesia over long periods at will, by Hingson and Southworth (1942), Southworth and Hingson (1943) and Edwards and Hingson (1943); and this feature has been employed with advantage in prolonged cases of labour. But the general belief that sacral anaesthesia is only applicable in general surgery in the continuous form is totally erroneous. It is because of this wrong belief that sacral anaesthesia has found

S3 Dorsal Root Ganglion/Nerve Root Stimulation for Refractory Postsurgical Perineal Pain: Technical Aspects of Anchorless Sacral Transforaminal Lead Placement.
Chronic perineal pain limits patients in physical and sexual activities, leading to social and psychological distress. In most cases, this pain develops after surgery in the urogenital area or as a consequence of trauma. Neuromodulation is one of the options in chronic postsurgical perineal pain treatment. We present a case of refractory perineal pain after right sided surgical resection of a B...
متن کاملSacral perineural cyst presenting as chronic perineal pain: a case report.
We present an interesting case of sacral perineural cyst which caused chronic perineal pain. Perineural cyst is relatively rare, especially the sacral region. Chronic perineural pain is an often encountered problem that is difficult to evaluate and sacral perineural cyst may be the etiology of chronic perineal pain in many instances.

Synthetic mesh repair of an anterior perineal hernia following robotic radical urethrocystectomy
INTRODUCTION Perineal hernia is a protrusion of intra-abdominal viscera through a defect in the pelvic floor and is a rare but challenging complication after extensive abdominoperineal surgery. There have been small series published after colorectal exenteration, but no cases have been reported after radical cystectomy and urethrectomy. CASE PRESENTATION A 68 years old woman developed an ante...

Anterior sacral meningocele is a rare condition presenting as a lower abdominal mass. One such case was seen in a baby girl aged 2 months, who was admitted with abdominal distension and urinary difficulty for one week. She had a lower abdominal mass which investigated by MRI, turned out to be an anterior sacral meningocele causing her symptoms. The meningocele was excised successfully via an op...
